A Heart of Gold

Lord, place in me a new heart

A heart that overcomes the enemy’s fiery darts

A heart that puts You first and others second

A heart that works for the expansion of Your kingdom

A heart opposed to exploitation and oppression

A heart that practises genuine kindness and compassion

A heart that helps others with everything in me

A heart rid of selfishness and greed

A heart that is forever willing to give to others unsparingly

A heart stronger than the wiles of the enemy

A heart that sincerely seeks to show forth Your glory

A heart that longs and thirsts for You

A heart that undauntedly pursues the truth

A heart that feels the pain of others as though it were mine

A heart dead to stubbornness and pride

A heart that sincerely wishes others the best, regardless of my circumstance

A heart always ready to hear from You and show obeisance

A heart sensitive to Your presence, touch and voice

A heart that masters the perfect spiritual poise

A heart that is to self, dead and for You, bold

Lord, place in me a heart of gold
