CHRIST Series: Christ, the One who Makes All Things New

If only there were a way to erase the darkest, biggest scribbles imprinted on our hearts and lives by the hard situations we've gone through. If only there were a way to delete the negatively life-altering actions and words that we have done and said in ignorance or deliberation. If only there was a way to really - and I mean, really - start over on a fresh slate.

A way that's not just "trying to forget" or "behaviour modification". A way that's not about trying harder or being better. A way that doesn't weigh down your shoulders or fill you with a burden that you've tried for as long as you can remember to carry and manage, all to no avail.

Not that many months ago, I was plagued by the same questions. And today, I know many who are in those shoes. Perhaps you are one.

My friend, let these three words ring loud and clear in your heart: There is hope. Say it out loud if you need to. Whatever it takes, until every part of you agrees with the words your eyes have just read.

There is hope, despite your messy past.

There is hope, despite the unfair trauma you have suffered.

There is hope, despite the crossroads you are now forced to stand at.

Christ can make it all new. Christ can make you new.

If you're still suffering from the consequences of your past actions, Christ can give you lasting peace and walk with you through your pain.

If you still feel dirty because of what has happened, Christ can wash you clean.

If you're still struggling to forgive the people or institutions that have hurt you deeply, Christ can help you let it go so that you enjoy the full beauty of life.

See what the Bible says:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." - Romans 15:13 (NIV)

"He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then He said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true'" - Revelation 21:5 (NIV)

Christ transforms. Christ restores. Christ redeems.

And He is willing to do these for you.

As a non-Christian, this will take believing that Jesus Christ came to take your wrongdoings and suffering upon Himself, so that you can enjoy life to the full. A life on earth where your identity is not your story and your joy is not dependent on your physical circumstances, and a life in heaven where there will be no pain or destruction.

As a Christian, this will take reminding yourself that because of your trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ, there is no condemnation for you. Though the devil accuses you in your thoughts, his arguments are groundless.

And my friend, never forget: Christ is with you and for you.

In my book, Mina's Diary, stories of people who have experienced being made new by Jesus Christ are recounted. I hope you read it, as I have written it to encourage and challenge you to trust in Jesus.

Praying for you,

stationarymissionary.
